Prince George’s County will celebrate Black History Month this year with a new exhibit “Reading, Writing and Race: Rosenwald Schools in Prince George’s County“.
This year’s exhibit will profile African American schools built with assistance from the Rosenwald Foundation. Thorough historic photos and artifacts, the exhibit highlights a list of Rosenwald schools that were featured in “America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2002. The exhibit’s centerpiece includes the recently renovated Ridgeley Rosenwald School, which is considered to be one of the county’s best examples of this type of educational facility.
The exhibit will display at Harmony Hall Regional Center, 10701 Livingston Rd. in Fort Washington from January 23-March 17. For more information call 301-203-6070 or visit www.pgparks.com.
