This weekend Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mt. Rainier will host Silkroad Dance Company’s 14th Central Asian Dance Festival. The event kicks off with workshops beginning on November 18-20. Some of the topics to be discussed include, “Introduction to Uzbek Dance”, “Azerbaijani Choreography and “Uzbek Dance Foundations: etudes and technique”.
On November 19, you can experience Central Asia Dance at its best with performance by Silk Road Dance Company and visiting artists at 8 pm.
Since its inception in 1995, Laurel Victoria Gray’s Silk Road Dance Company has delighted audiences around the country with traditional and fusion dances from the Middle East and Central Asia. Performing Uzbek, Afghani, Tadjik, Kurdish, Persian and Egyptian dance techniques rarely seen in the US. Their performance offer a unique glimpse of the life, culture, and art of little known regions.
